This model is made of abrasive leather with a brushed finish, to obtain a soft, smooth and grain-free upper surface. This model, with a dovetail toe, is also called a Brogue due to the presence of ornamental holes. A little curiosity: these holes have a very poor functional origin because they let the water that entered the shoes during work in the fields flow out. Only in the 1930s were they introduced to England as elegant decorations, called "broguings".
